If you have never been to a chiropractor before, you're probably wondering what will happen on your first visit. Well, to put you more at ease, we have outlined on this page everything that will occur on that visit.
New Patient Forms
In order to save time, we will email you our New Patient forms prior to your first visit. These forms provide us with the necessary health history and information concerning your particular condition.
Dr. Saul will review the forms you filled out. He will then conduct an in-depth consultation to learn more about your particular condition and past medical history. This is also the time where you can ask questions and express any concerns you may have, and for Dr. Saul to learn what your expectations are concerning your care.
After your consultation, Dr. Saul will perform a complete chiropractic examination. This will include posture analysis, ranges of motion, leg length analysis and palpation of your spine and muscles. Additional orthopedic and/or neurological testing will be performed, if indicated.
Depending on your specific condition, age, health history and examination findings, we may require x-rays to be taken.
Report of Findings
On your second visit, Dr. Saul will give you a detailed report of his findings, based on your history and examination results. And he will answer any questions you may have, including the three most important questions:
- Can you help me?
- How often do I need to be treated?
- How much will it cost?
Your treatment will consist of chiropractic adjustments and, most likely in the early stages of care, soft tissue therapy. The purpose of the adjustments is to restore a more normal alignment of your spine, thereby reducing or eliminating the pressure on the nerves that is caused by the misaligned vertebrae in your spine. Dr. Saul is skilled in a variety of adjusting techniques, and will utilize the technique(s) that is most suitable for you. The soft tissue therapy will help reduce/eliminate inflammation, trigger points and muscle spasms. He also performs energy healing to address any possible emotional component that may be contributing to your pain. Dr. Saul likes your visits to be interactive, so please feel free to ask questions or discuss any concerns you may have.
